Who looks after your information

Mehrvar is responsible for the personal information used to handle your enquiries and orders. The proprietor’s identity and business contact details are on our legal page. For any privacy question, email hello@mehrvar.com.

What we collect & why

For ceremony enquiries, we collect the name, contact details, preferred date and time, town or venue, ceremony choice and message you submit. We use these to answer your questions and discuss arrangements. For certificate orders, we receive your contact and delivery details, chosen design and size, both names, nikah date and payment reference through Stripe. We use these to personalise, print and deliver your order and handle aftercare. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number.

Our lawful bases are taking steps at your request before a contract and performing our contract with you; our legitimate interests in answering general questions, securing the website and resolving complaints; and legal obligations for necessary financial records. We do not use enquiry or order details to sign you up for marketing.

Nikah details may reveal religious beliefs. For information revealing your own religious beliefs, we ask for explicit consent to use it for your enquiry or service. You can withdraw that consent by emailing us; this does not undo earlier lawful processing, but we may be unable to continue a service that needs that information. Please only provide another person’s details with their knowledge and permission. We will seek any additional consent needed before preparing a personalised certificate.

Who can receive it

Only people who need the details to handle your request or order should access them. Our website hosting and database providers, OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare, process website submissions. Stripe processes payments and checkout information under its own privacy notice. Our business email provider, Lark, processes email correspondence. A printing partner may receive the names, date and artwork required to print your certificate; a carrier receives the delivery name, address and relevant contact details. We share the minimum needed for each task.

Some service providers process information outside the UK. Where required, appropriate UK transfer safeguards must apply, such as adequacy arrangements or approved contractual protections. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your request. We do not sell your personal information or publish your personalised certificate without separate permission. See Stripe’s privacy notice for its own processing.

How long we keep it

We retain information only for as long as needed for its purpose. Our retention schedule is to review unconverted enquiries after 12 months and delete them when no longer needed; remove working artwork and personalisation files within 12 months of fulfilment unless needed for an unresolved issue or you request longer storage; and retain only the financial and transaction information needed for applicable tax, accounting and legal requirements. An ongoing enquiry, complaint or legal claim may require longer retention. Deletion is reviewed manually; it is not an automatic service.

Your choices & rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, restrict its use, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or request portability where applicable. Some records may need to be kept to meet legal obligations or deal with a claim. Email hello@mehrvar.com; we may need to check your identity. We normally respond within one month, subject to any extension allowed by law. You may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Website storage & security

The website can save your basket in local storage on your device. Empty the basket or clear the site’s browser data to remove it. We do not add advertising or analytics cookies. Hosting, sign-in and payment providers may use necessary security and payment technologies, described in their own notices. Access to saved enquiries is restricted to the site owner. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Please avoid sending identity documents, card details or unrelated sensitive information through the enquiry form. Website enquiries are saved for review. Automatic email alerts are not currently enabled; you can email hello@mehrvar.com directly if preferred.
